Academy Awards fashion predictions

As awards season draws to a close from another year, we take a look at who will be leading the style stakes at the biggest film event in the world, the 2012 Oscars...

Angelina Jolie

Angelina rarely puts a foot wrong in the style stakes and we’re expecting a lot from her. Her last red carpet appearance at the Golden Globes last month did nothing but ignite interest in what, and who, she will be wearing come the 26th. In that gorgeous red and cream Versace gown with matching red pout, Ange looked every inch the A-List star and with the gorgeous Brad pitt on her arm there’s no doubt she’ll be the talk of the town. This is Angelina at her most polished, but the Tomb Raider has a dark side often sporting gothic chic such as her Jenny Packham black halter neck dress at the SAGs awards.  Whether it’s slick and sophisticated or gothic and sultry, she’s sure to shine on the red carpet.

Michelle Williams

Michelle is the queen of quirky with her high street H&M gown from last week’s BAFTAs causing a stir for all the right reasons. The A Week With Marilyn star wowed in her eco custom made frock with cute Olympia Le-Tan Arthur Miller book clutch showing us how to mix classic Hollywood and top fashion trends without the A-List price. We expect Michelle to have her wonderful pixie crop preened and flawless make-up with simple and delicate accessories. With her love for vintage pieces and effortless style, we can imagine a classic yet simple Oscar gown and we can’t wait to see it!

Meryl Streep

Despite claiming she has no love for fashion, Meryl knows how to work her body and continues to shine on the red carpet. Always staying true to her own sense of style, Meryl often opts for timeless pieces that flatter her figure. She has a current trend of wearing dark colours, mainly navy and black, and looked a million dollars in her black corseted gown by Vivienne Westwood to pick up her best actress BAFTA this year. However, the Oscars calls for the fashion big guns and we would love to see her in a bit of colour.
